Not quite avant-garde, not quite post-bop... existing at an intriguing space in between. A quintet of Clemens Salesny on alto sax, Samuel Blaser on trombone, Samuel Halscheidt on guitar, Andreas Waelti on bass, and Tobias Backhaus on drums. The improvisational sections will probably win this album the most fans, but the loose structure within which they interact might be the recording’s strongest trait. (Dave Sumner – eMusic, 06.09.2013)
