Andreas Waelti (double bass) was born in Switzerland and studied double bass at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern, the University of Music in Basel and the Jazzinstitut Berlin.

 

After his studies with Bänz OesterSigi Busch and Chris Dahlgreen he degreed in 2007 at the University of Music in Basel and moved to Berlin, where he already lived during his Erasmus studies in 2005/2006. In the following five years he performed with several Berlin bands and musicians and did extensive touring in whole Europe, Asia and even parts of South America.

 

In 2006 Waelti formed his own Berlin based band «Transit Room» which had released its debut album «Gordon Pym» on Doublemoon Records «Jazz thing Next Generation». By now the group performed over fifty concerts through Switzerland, Norway and Germany and realeased their second album «Cypher» in Fall 2013. During his six years in Berlin he was also a member of the «Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra», worked together with Bands like «The Notwist» and did collaborate with Singer/Songwriters such as Francesco Wilking. In 2011 he became a lecturer for Theory, Harmony, Composition and Ensemble at the academy Deutsche Pop in Vienna and foundet the interdisciplinary concert series «open loose»

 

He worked together with musicians such as Will Vinson, Theodosii Spassov, John Hollenbeck, Colin Vallon, Pablo Held, Michael Wollny, Samuel Blaser, Wolfgang Puschnig, Wanja Slavin, Sebastian Gille, Silvio Morger, Tobias Backhaus, Wolfgang Haffner, Franco Ambrosetti, Klaus Doldinger, Andreas Schaerrer, Lucia Cadotsch, Matthieu Michel, George Gruntz, Kalman Olah, David Helbock, Jure Pukl, Fabian Rucker, Mario Rom, Martin Eberle, Herbert Pirker Andy Haberl and many more.
